Terms of Service

This document is being finalised with Azerbaijani legal counsel. It is published in English, Azerbaijani and Russian; the English version governs.
1. Who we are#
RentPilot operates an online marketplace that connects renters with verified rental companies offering self-drive cars. RentPilot is an intermediary. The rental is a contract between you and the rental company, which owns the vehicle and sets its price, its deposit and its conditions.
2. Using RentPilot#
- You need a RentPilot account, which you create with an email address, a sign-in link, or your Google account.
- You must be old enough to rent a car under the law that applies, and hold a valid driving licence. The rental company checks your licence when you collect the car.
- Only the driver the rental company approves may drive the vehicle.
- Keep your account details accurate and your account secure.
3. Booking a car#
When you choose a car and your dates, you send the rental company a booking request. A booking exists only once the rental company approves that request; it may also decline it. Requests that are not answered may expire.
You can cancel a trip yourself from your RentPilot account. A rental company may also cancel, and RentPilot may cancel a booking where it is required to.
4. Prices and the deposit#
Each car shows its daily price and its refundable security deposit before you book. Both are set by the rental company, and the amounts shown when the company approves your request are the amounts that apply to that booking.
You settle the rental and the deposit directly with the rental company. RentPilot does not take payment from you, and does not hold, take or return the deposit.
5. Collecting, driving and returning#
- Inspect the car together with the rental company when you collect it, and agree its condition before you drive away.
- Use the car lawfully and in line with the rental company's rental agreement.
- Return the car on time, in the agreed condition, and inspect it again with the company.
- Report any incident, damage or theft to the rental company immediately, and to the authorities where the law requires it.
The rental company records your collection and your return in RentPilot.
6. What RentPilot does not provide#
RentPilot does not, today:
- take payment, hold funds, or handle refunds — you settle directly with the rental company;
- provide insurance of any kind, and makes no guarantee about cover. Insuring the vehicle is the responsibility of the rental company and of you, as the law and the rental agreement require;
- verify your identity, and does not check your licence — the rental company does that when you collect the car;
- operate a dispute-resolution service. Disagreements about a rental are between you and the rental company;
- publish reviews written by renters.
7. Your conduct#
Do not use RentPilot unlawfully, do not misrepresent who you are, and do not attempt to interfere with the service or with other people's accounts. We may suspend or close an account that does.
8. Our responsibility#
RentPilot provides the marketplace. We are not a party to the rental agreement and we are not responsible for the vehicle, for its condition, or for the performance of the rental company. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under mandatory consumer law.
9. Governing law, languages and contact#
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan. They are published in English, Azerbaijani and Russian; the Azerbaijani and Russian versions are provided for convenience, and if they differ, the English version governs.
This is a working version and is being finalised with Azerbaijani legal counsel. If you have a question about these terms, write to us.
